Product Selection Process – Custom Home Build: What Do I Need to Know? (Part 5)

Once your permits have been issued, your custom home builder will soon start the excavation of your foundation. You are now embarking on the Selection Process portion of your build… This is where the magic happens!

Now’s the Time for the Fine Details

Windows – Although the sizes are determined by your blueprints, details such as color, window construction, and opening configurations are best determined by you and an experienced window manufacturer.

Paint and Stain – Your painters need your paint selections for items such as doors, trims and walls. You also need to choose stains for items such as railings.

Each decision will affect the next process; therefore, it is important that your custom home builder schedules time to go over selections between you and the applicable company to ensure there are no delays in the building process.

Start looking through magazines or searching the Internet to find images of ideas that you like. It is helpful to have a “jumping off” point… This is where the design concept will start from. Think about your top “must haves.”

It will ensure you are on the same page with your custom home builder.
